Rhinophyma

Rhinophyma is a rare skin disorder, a subtype of rosacea, that primarily affects the nose, leading to a gradual enlargement and deformation of the nasal tissue. This condition is often characterized by a bulbous and bumpy appearance of the nose, resulting from the overgrowth of sebaceous (oil) glands, fibrous tissue, and blood vessels. While the exact cause of rhinophyma is not fully understood, it is commonly associated with rosacea, a chronic skin condition.

The treatment for rhinophyma typically involves surgical intervention to reshape and reduce the size of the nose. Procedures like laser therapy, electrosurgery, or scalpel excisions are often used to remove excess tissue and restore a more normal appearance. It’s important to consult a dermatologist or plastic surgeon to determine the most suitable treatment plan based on the severity of the condition.
