Cryolipolysis, also known as fat freezing, is a nonsurgical fat-reduction technique that uses cold temperatures to reduce fat reserves in various parts of the body. The process can be carried out in a general practitioner’s office or a medical center. The size and shape of the fatty deposit are measured, and the treatment area is marked with a skin-marking pencil. During the procedure, the patients are awake. An applicator, a portable device is used to freeze the layer of fat cells (adipocytes) beneath the skin. To begin, a gel pad is applied to the affected area to protect the skin.
