Otoplasty and Earlobe Repair are done to Upgrade the size, shape, or position of your ears. It can fix a malformation you were born with or a distortion caused by an injury. In adults, repair of the earlobe may be required to close the holes of a procedure known as earlobe gauging or stretching of the earlobe. It may also be referred to as earlobe reduction surgery. Most of the women have broken earlobes due to heavy earrings (Stretched earrings) or earrings that have been torn out of the earlobe. As we age earlobes may lose collagen and begin to crumple, accentuating holes from earrings, irregularly formed due to congenital earlobe deformity, severely asymmetrical due to anatomy or injuries, so big that it sticks out of the bottom of your head.

There is no particular treatment used on a patient with ear surgery. Every ear is different and the procedures done depend on the preferences and the outcomes you expect.

The treatment will be developed on a patient-by-patient basis. Generally, the incisions for the otoplasty are on the back of the ear. Rarely, an incision is required on the front surface of the ear and is made in the folds to make it less visible. When the incision has been made, the cartilage is raising and reshaped to the perfect appearance. Incisions are closed and a thick dressing and a headcover is added. Loboplasty is the scientific term used to reshape/resize earlobe surgery. This is done on a systematic basis by children and adults who have an unpleasant appearance of the earlobe.
